Recently, an Apple Computer commercial for the Mac featured a down and out "Windows Guy" who shyly admitted that he took the unlikely, uninstalling his recent Upgrading Windows Vista and return to the old Windows XP. Even if an intelligent script for an announcement, it seems that was not very far from the truth. During extensive tests, some independent computer researchers found that XP did much better than Vista in all tests they conducted.
Interestingly, these surprising results that came from comparing the performance of XP against the "last and best "Windows Vista has been consistent regardless of which versions of operating systems have been used or the amount RAM has been installed on the PC. The tests clearly showed that even when the installation of Vista has been improved to latest "Service Pack Beta One" package, Vista is still too slow.
To run extensive tests, the researchers installed two versions patched and unpatched these two systems, namely Windows XP and Vista. They were executed on a Dell laptop with a processor dual-core and they used the Microsoft Office application with each version of these operating systems.
The test results showed the time it took for each system configurations to meet a number of specific tasks in Office. These tasks include creating a complex document and creating a slideshow presentation. The time to perform these tasks under XP and Vista were then carefully observed and compared against each other.
The results were not what researchers expected to report. Not only all Tested functions faster with the XP operating system installed, but the testers were surprised that XP turned out to be about twice as fast as the transactions in Vista, in almost all tests.
This is a significant difference in speed and is undoubtedly a difference that is noticeable to users, even casual pc. For power users, such as a drastic reduction in speed is not only frustrating, but simply unacceptable. For this reason, many people who had "updated" Vista subsequently returned and reinstalled XP on their machines.
It is not surprising that the folks at Apple took the opportunity to mock the latest "upgrade" to users Microsoft Windows.
At the top of the bad news that emerged from these comparisons of speed of XP versus Vista, some other tests delivered additional blows. The experiments with either operating system also makes it clear that Vista has shown a tendency to be "resource intensive" and engulfs almost – any additional RAM could be added to a computer. When testers doubled the memory in the machine test from a gigabyte to two gigabytes, the result was a meager 4% improvement in performance.
Even if there had no performance problems with Windows Vista, yet there have been no new major programs that have been produced to run only on Vista. But with these two factors combined, people do not feel obliged to spend money and go through the hassle of leaving Windows XP to change.
