The much awaited Apple tablet has finally been revealed. Steve Jobs unveiled on January 27, in a tense morning for Apple fans technology around the world. Now, with the specifications and information there, it's time to preview the IPAD and potential.
Firstly the design is pretty spectacular. The front is dominated by the large 9.7 "LED lit LCD display that probably will look great. Just below the screen you get the iPhone home button that takes you back to the top at any time. A less attractive feature for me are the black borders around the screen. They are a bit too wide for my taste, it would have been better if Apple managed to stretch the display a bit and remove borders. On top you get the sleep button to turn off the display. On the right side you have the volume buttons and the switch to silence interesting is that the buttons have been moved from left (iPhone) to the right. On the back you get the Large Black Apple logo in the middle of a big gray (aluminum?) mass. He also said iPad on the back, the number of GBS and a few small things FCC, which are required to be there I think. It is not impossible Assuming that the new iPhone will present a similar case. The tablet is really thin, in fact, is only 0.5 cm thick, which is as thick as an iPhone. Height and width of future measures: 9.6 inches and 7.47 inches.
Now lets talk software IPAD. It works very similar to an iPhone. Slide to unlock and you're in the main screen with icons typical of the iPhone. You get: contact YouTube, Mail, Safari, iPod iTunes App Store, the video settings, minimum score card (Google!), calendar, photos and last but not.
The apps have been altered just for new building though. For example, photos are now arranged in blocks event. By tapping a block of photos showing you a preview of photos event (or Plan for Windows users). However, you can also display your precious memories by list, location, faces or date. One can imagine that it will be fantastic to manipulate photos on a large touch screen and show it to your friends.
Another application Steve Jobs showed the PPP has been widely Safari. The browsing experience than the office experience because you can touch and flip through the pages. And unlike the iPhone you now see the Web page text.
The App Store will transform this unit into things Apple is not sufficient to attain. You can run any application on his iPhone in full screen or 1:1, the latter resolution true we are accustomed to the outside favorite smartphone. But, in addition to running iPhone applications, IPAD will also its own applications. Developers can create programs for it and use its full potential. The things we saw in the opening including software EA, looked OK but not very impressive. Within months, surprising piece of code released to the tablets, we are sure.
I have taken everything into consideration, and some things bug me now. First IPAD not receive support flash? The tablet is supposed to provide the best navigation experience ever, but Flash is much experience.
Another thing is material. Apart from the case and the touch screen things are not looking good on paper. It has a processor clocked at 1 GHz quadcore built From Apple, a company not specializing in these chips. I feared that this A4 processor might not be fast enough for the really interesting applications. Another Downer is no iSight. This thing would have been surprising for a conference or instant messaging, a missed opportunity there. Other material figures are a mystery. As speed is the graphics chip? And how much system memory does it work?
And Last but not least, I'm having a hard time giving the software My Two thumbs up. I think it looks much like the iPhone software. IPAD was product much stronger if the software has allowed some advanced things like editing video or the ability to access and store files in Finder windows (or cards for Windows users).
To conclude. IPAD is unbelievable and with a price of € 499 it will sell very well. But like the first iPhone launch IPAD has some obvious shortcomings. It is not very fast, did not have a webcam and more of this software is missing functionality for calculating premiums. With that said I could still get one if the experience is incredible that Steve Jobs has expressed in presentation. Knowing that Apple will probably be the case.
